With awards and accolades cascading across the walls, Blu Water Day Spa’s owner, Julie Nguyen, had high expectations to realize her vision of incorporating a hair salon into her award-winning spa design. Julie envisioned transforming a large retail space and part of the nail area into a tranquil oasis that would flow organically. This dream came to fruition in December 2012 with the creation of Blu Water Day Spa and Salon. Built on the concept of blending health, wellness, and natural beauty with the elements of nature, it has since become a sought-after destination for those in need of total relaxation.
Owner Julie Nguyen’s mission is to expose and elevate the expertise of fellow artists in eyebrow design, nails, massage, and esthetics. By fusing Asian and Indian culture, Blu Water Day Spa provides a serene escape for guests seeking full-service spa treatments. This vision is reflected throughout the 4,500-square-foot space, where every detail enhances the sense of tranquility.
As guests enter, their senses are greeted by the soothing scents of organic lavender and chamomile. The orchid-filled reception area, featuring a luxurious floor-to-ceiling waterfall showcasing Blu Water’s logo, sets the tone with soft, tranquil melodies enhancing the calm. Guests are welcomed with a beverage and escorted to a secluded changing area to prepare for their services.
Behind the reception waterfall, a grand turquoise curved divan invites guests to relax before being led to the “Quiet Area.” The dimly lit hallway, adorned with bamboo glass sconces, guides them into the Meditation Room to await their spa treatments. Each service room in the spa is named after one of the five elements of nature: Fire, Water, Earth, Metal, and Air.
The foyer, with natural hand-laid pebbles, leads guests to a second custom frosted glass door that opens to the salon. Vaulted ceilings and warm earth tones, along with hand-painted faux walls, create a serene and inviting atmosphere.
For the past 16 years, Blu Water Day Spa has been recognized as the best day spa in Rockville, Bethesda, North Bethesda, Kensington, Washington DC, and the DMV area, earning awards from Bethesda Magazine, The Washington Post, DC Luxury Magazine, Washingtonian Magazine, Best of DC, and Day Spa Magazine.
